Directorate of Quality Assurance
The Directorate of Quality Assurance ensures that higher education and training institutions in The Gambia meet national standards. It is responsible for developing and implementing quality assurance policies and frameworks that guide institutions in delivering quality education and training.
The Directorate fosters transparency, accountability, and excellence in the education and training sector, thereby contributing to the development of a robust and competitive education sector in The Gambia. It comprises of Standards and Curriculum Development Unit, Registration and Accreditation Unit, Inspectorate/Compliance Unit, Assessment and Certification Unit and Industry and External Relations Unit..
The main Responsibilities of the directorate includes:

Ensures training providers comply with NAQAA requirements under the NAQAA Act of 2021.

Establishes standards for:
- The establishment of public and private tertiary and higher education institutions.

Programme accreditation.
-
Assessment and certification of The Gambia Skills Qualification (GSQ) candidates.

Conducts:

Quality audits.
-
Licensing of trainers, assessors, and verifiers.
-
Development of training standards and curriculum.
-
Monitors compliance through:

The Inspectorate Unit.
-
Registration and Accreditation Unit.
-
Assessment and Certification Unit.
-
Industry and External Relations Unit.

Supports continuous improvement by:

Engaging stakeholders.

Providing guidance on best practices.
-
Ensuring adherence to established quality standards.
Current Activities

Harmonizing and aligning occupational/training standards and curricula to the Gambia National Qualifications Framework (GNQF) under the Standards and Curriculum Development Unit.

Considering the different sectors of the country’s economy during the alignment process.

Facilitating the placement of interns in the industry to:

Prepare for the world of work.

Organizing awareness activities through the Office of Public Relations to:

Promote the image of the Authority.
