MoHERST Transfers Responsibility for Authentication of Academic Certificates to NAQAA
The Ministry of Higher Education, Research, Science, and Technology (MoHERST) has officially transferred the responsibility for the authentication of academic certificates to NAQAA starting from April 1, 2026.
NAQAA, as the technical arm of the Ministry, is tasked with overseeing accreditation, quality assurance, and regulatory functions within the tertiary and higher education sector. The assumption of this responsibility is part of the Ministry’s ongoing efforts to strengthen quality assurance systems and improve efficiency, credibility, and transparency in verifying academic qualifications in The Gambia.
Starting April 1, 2026, all individuals, institutions, employers, and stakeholders seeking certificate authentication must apply directly to NAQAA. Applicants must submit
their original certificates and transcripts, along with two (2) photocopies of each certificate. The approved.
The fee for the authentication service is Five Hundred Dalasi (D500) per certificate. Applicants are reminded to ensure all required documents are complete for timely processing.
