NAQAA WARNS NON-COMPLIANT INSTITUTIONS: CLOSURE ORDERS IMMINENT
The National Accreditation and Quality Assurance Authority (NAQAA) hereby issues a stern warning to all institutions found operating tertiary and higher education programmes without the requisite authorization. Running academic programmes without accreditation is a direct violation of the NAQAA Act and poses a serious threat to the quality and credibility of our national education system.
Despite repeated calls and engagements, some institutions continue to flout regulatory requirements by offering unaccredited programmes to unsuspecting students. This unlawful conduct will no longer be tolerated. NAQAA is in the process of finalizing closure orders against all institutions and programmes operating in breach of the law. The public is urged to take note, as these orders will be enforced without further notice.
Furthermore, all tertiary and higher education institutions that are yet to submit their academic programmes for accreditation are hereby directed to do so on or before April 30, 2025. Failure to comply by this deadline will result in regulatory sanctions, including but not limited to, withdrawal of registration and public disclosure of non-compliant entities.
NAQAA remains committed to upholding quality and integrity in The Gambia’s higher education sector. Institutions are therefore urged to align their operations with national standards and regulatory requirements as mandated.
